Comment on "Let us learn from Egypt"

While I understand where Gabriel is coming from and also agree that we should crack down hard on extremists, surely it is dangerous to say we should emulate the policies of middle eastern countries.

It is not and must not be acceptable in the west to torture people and as much as one might dislike these fanatics we must not lower ourselves to their level.

Check out the article in Friday's Guardian about how harsh treatment has created more fanaticism.
