Mysticism and nazism...

Reader comment on item: The Mystical Menace of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
in response to reader comment: hitler reference

There are a number of accounts about Hitler and his mystical fantasies...I recall reading an account about how Hitler would give orders to his scientists (top nazi profs at universities) to pursue "mystical" endeavors...such as sending the profs out to collect plants (wild flowers) because of their alleged herbal powers...to increase Aryan health or something (all pseudo-science...) Some allege that Hitler's preoccupation with psedo-science prevented military development (the academics spent their time on bizarre pursuits to satisfy Hitler). This benefited the allies...(stalled the nazi military machine, etc). There is still a good deal of debate about how far along the nazis were to getting an a-bomb. (the Norweigians took out a heavy-water plant...which put a halt to German development...but apparently Hitler wasn't impressed by his prof's experimentations). (perhaps psy-ops could go to Iran and discuss the need for Iranian scientists to develop their "mysticism" -- say, collect some powerful Islam plants -- it's just so much more fruitful than the mad pursuit of science...)
