a question for Daniel Pipes: What Iran Wants are defense itself or start a new war?

In few words: Iran wants nuclear bomb for its defense against USA invasion (after the Iraq success) or Iran planning destruction of Israel and a war against his enemies in the Middle East?

I think Iran knows

1) nuclear bomb over israel can kill a great number of palestinians,
2) Russia, china, USa, even Britain and France could literally erase Iran because the number of atomic bombs of those countries are very higher than the Iran.

So, what's the final goal of Iran? conquer the ME or prevent a USA invasion?
