Political Correctness Revisited

Reader comment on item: The Mystical Menace of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Submitted by John Giannasca (Australia), Jan 10, 2006 at 17:03

The time has come to educate the general population with the facts. It will not be easy but it must be done. I agree with all the contributors who state time after time that we cannot wait any longer, we must act now. But we dont. Why. We dont have the political will. Why. Because the politicians fear a backlash from the people who put them into power. Why. Because the general population has not bothered itself with reading and diseminating all the facts that woud eventually lead to an informed decision.

This is not their fault. They are not to know what is important, who is or who isn't telling the truth. After all they are just trying to get through life with the least ammount of hassles making ends meet. They have been glazed over by years of mistrust of government intentions. I dont have the answer, but hopefully others will. We must start now to publicly educate our people as to why we have our concerns and get their buy-in before we act. If we dont, we may act half heartedly or without support and risk faiure. We should never fight a war that we cannot win, and win deciesevly.

For all this to happen we must now shed the burden of political correctness that was partially lifted after 9/11 but has now returned. It is only the ability to say wfhat needs to be said to who ever needs to hear it that we have a hope of getting the message. This is what we need to do to stop Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and others like him.
