Iran and the bomb

Reader comment on item: The Mystical Menace of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
in response to reader comment: umm ...Iran is not going to make a nuclear weapon

Submitted by jake fox (United States), Feb 26, 2007 at 22:59

Just because Mr. Ahmadinejad says he does not want the bomb, you believe him? He said that Israel should be wiped from the earth, how do you suppose he is going to do that? He denies the Holocaust ever happened, even in the face of overwhelming evidence. He says that a Halo appeared over his head when he addressed the UN, even though no else saw it in the audience of hundreds. He thought the whole UN was listeneing in rapt attention to his speech, when most of the audience thought it was, at worst, inappropriate and at best, ridiculous.

He nearly bankrupted the city of Tehran as it's mayor with grandiose projects to prepare for the return of the Mahdi, the 12th Imam. He believes he has been personally chosen by Allah to "prepare the way for the return of the Mahdi" because he is the only person who can do it.

The man is clearly delusional, and not able to think clearly about running his country. The needs of his country-men are not important to him, only personal agrandizement. He has not even attempted to fulfill any of his campaign promises of lowering un-employment, rebuilding the infrastructure of Iran, and making life better for the common man over there. What he says and what he does are two different things.

Why would a country with known oil reserves sufficient for their own use, and still have large quantities to sell, need an alternative source of power for peaceful purposes? The only reason for Iran spending that much time and money on a nuclear program is to build a bomb. He wants to be in the elite club of countries that have the bomb, but the difference is that he is crazy enough to use it and damn the consequences.
