Iran, another evil empire!

Reader comment on item: The Mystical Menace of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Often Mr. Pipes you express at the end of your articles, most of which I agree with completely, that this cannot be allowed to continue. But you rarely continue to state what should be done. When you speak of the danger of allowing the Iranian President to continue to rant and rave, continue becoming a nuclear power, and not have fear of the consequences, your readers want to hear some rational solutions. I know this is difficult to do, and these decisions are complicated. By now we can see that our President would again, like to create a coalition of democratic governments to begin to pressure Iran, but what if they won't comply? WHAT THEN.. Should we go it alone? Would the world expect Israel to handle this job for them.. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?

This would be an ideal time for the U.N. to act, but we all know how ineffectual they are at this time.
I myself, have few answers, and was hoping you might have some...
Thanks for reading my letter.

Daniel Pipes replies:

I hope that the Western governments will be convincing enough to deter the Iranians. If that does not work, I expect them to take the necessary steps to prevent the nuclear weapons from going forward.
