Religion And Insanity

in response to reader comment: What about Christianity?

The insanity of our world is not caused by religion. It is caused by the perversion of religion. When men call to use the Holy Name of G-d to serve the purpose of their own petty ambitions and greed and to excuse their own failings as men then they are taking the Holy Name in vain. The Commandment forbids such actions.

The perversion of religion comes from the failure to articulate the truth that is universal to all humanity and indeed to all of life.
The simple "TRUTH" is: Hear Oh Israel, The Lord Our God is ONE
There is ONE sky above
One earth beneath our feet
One sea of air surrounding
and ONE breath of life within
Humanity is ONE kind upon the face of the earth
and there is ONE LAW which governs the affairs of all men
The "GREAT LAW" is based upon the principle of reciprocity: "Everything in life is an exchange of values for the enhancement and continuation of life. Any thing which does not contribute to the enhancement or to the positive continuation of life is of no use to anyone.

It is this "Principle of Reciprocity" that is the basis of all laws from that of Hamurabbi to the present Constitution of the United States. Our thinking has evolved over many millenia through trial and error but we still have a long way to go. We have not yet achieved a final synthesis in our understandings.

If a man is a servant of G-d he must be a servant of life and of all livingness. He must be a healer who heals old wounds without inflicting new ones. He must be a uniter and not a divider.

If a man curses his neighbor in the Name of G-d, G-d will curse that man in the name of his neighbor.
As it is said: The tongue is a two edged sword. With one edge you cut your enemy and with the other edge you cut yourself. Far better it is to hold your sword in its scabbard than to unsheath it with an unskilled hand.
