in response to reader comment: This is some crazy shit

I think you have read my statement as based in some sort of racial or religious hatred, and I assure you it is not. But I won't retreat from it in the context I meant it in, which is that as far as our social and political structure, we are better. Look no further than the fact that Iran essentially has no separation of church (or mosque as it were) and state, since the mullahs have the final say on whatever the government does. A nation ruled in that fashion simply will not thrive in the modern age.

I did not mean to characterize all Iranians as Islamo-Fascists. I am aware there are many good, moderate Iranians who would like nothing better than to replace their current goverment with a better one and develop better relations with the west for the benefit of the Iranian people. I support them. But the topic was Ahmedinijad, and based on his comments I have no problem assigning him the label of Islamo-Fascist. He is just one in a long line of rulers across the Middle East who stir up hatred against everyone possible (Israel, US, etc) in an effort to divert the focus away from his failures to his own people.

And no, I have never lived among the Iranians, but if they someday replace Ahmedinijad and get a moderate government, you can show me the sights.
