Beauty pageants are whack

Reader comment on item: Affirmative Action in Beauty Contests?

Submitted by Lina (United States), May 19, 2010 at 11:53

The whole concept of beauty pageants is just absolutely senseless in general. Most people can agree that someone is either beautiful or not, so what is the competition? Also, beauty comes in all different forms, but I still don't believe there are different "levels". You simply are, or are not. I feel a beauty pageant measures a whole mess of things, but beauty definitely is not one of them. The proof for that is that all the women on that stage are beautiful. Not one of them is "ugly". Also, there are many beautiful women in the states that are not on that stage. It's a bunch of bologna if you ask me!
