Just to get this straight: we've got to the point where we're alleging a there's a conspiracy to undermine Western civilisation by fixing its beauty pageants? I don't want to spoil the mood with some actual research, but there are about 1.5 million Muslims in the UK (out of a population of 60 million), and about one in 20 live near Nottingham - about 75,000 people in an area which, if you draw the boundary generously, could contain about 2 million people.

Now obviously some Muslims don't think that beauty pageants are a good idea (I agree, but for different reasons), so proportionally fewer Muslims would enter, compared to, say, lapsed Catholics. On the other hand, if you're going to allege British affirmative action, one Miss England and one Miss Nottingham in the whole pointless history of pageants is terrible evidence. If you add up all the regional UK pageants, it's arguably fewer than you would expect. I imagine the statisticians of Picardie would feel the same (6% of France is Muslim).

So either Daniel Pipes knows this, and is being provocative on purpose to play to the gallery, or ...
