Reader comment on item: Affirmative Action in Beauty Contests?

Submitted by Lara (United States), May 18, 2010 at 16:12

Georgina Rizk was NOT married to Ali Hassan Salameh when she won the title. She didn't even know him. she married him in 1978, 6 years later. The reason there were terrorist threats back in 1972 is because, the whole region was in turmoil, right after the 1967 war, right before the 1973 war and in the middle, well, great policies pertaining to the Middle East on part of everyone, from Israel to Arab countries to the US etc... It had NOTHING to do with Beauty Contest. That woman was beautiful in her own right. EXCUSE ME for Lebanese being beautiful women, much more than the blonde dolls that usually win.

Thank you

I checked on Rizq's biography in several places. If they contained errors, I am glad to have these corrected.
