Political views do matter

Reader comment on item: Sudden Jihad or "Inordinate Stress" at Ft. Hood?

Dear Sir,
Unlike some commentators who should know better, incidents like these aren't freak anomalies caused by "stress" and what have you.
The following article by Barry Rubin highlights many such previous instances done:

Political views of the criminal play the most crucial role in such incidents.
In this case, the political view was as mandated by Islam.
