in response to reader comment: Political Correctness

Yes, political correctness and its strange bedfellow, "diversity," is slowing destroying what was once a great society. No culture has ever survived 'diversity' for very long. Diversity, taken in the context of a society's cultural fabric, does not strengthen a nation; it fractures it. Diversity invites all those within a nation to share divided loyalties. It invites the phenomenon of the 'hypenated citizen;' the Cuban-American, the Mexican-American, the Chinese-American, the African-American, the Italian-American, and this can only weaken the core principles of our nation by slowly erroding the very idea of what it means to be simply 'an American.'

Once upon a time we had a pretty good idea of what that meant. We no longer do. When our greatest city, New York, hosts an endless series of social homages to other cultures rather than our own it is like a seismic warning of what is to come. Is there any real justification for, let's say, a "Dominican Day Parade" marching through the streets of New York City? If these people love the Dominican Republic so much why don't they live there? It is nothing more than the flagrant expression of a divided loyalty in which the lion's share of the loyalty goes to someplace outside of the USA. How long will it be before the America we once knew disintegrates within the cultural earthquake imposed by the rampant 'diversification' of our social fabric?
