To Whom Allegiance is Sworn, Fealty is Required

Reader comment on item: Sudden Jihad or "Inordinate Stress" at Ft. Hood?
in response to reader comment: I wonder

As this exquisitely painful episode of going through the stages of shock, grief, anger and searches for recriminations (or whatever the sequence is for dealing with this kind of anguish) and answers, someone else noted that it may take time to sort it all out, and maybe that is true for any who have not come to the point of understanding the reality of what just happened. Though on a much smaller scale, the feelings of most normal American citizens who support their military are going through the same sensations as we did back in September 2001. It is of a very natural course that the association of the Fort Hood attacker with a militant Muslim mentality will drive another message home, that we are fighting an enemy that has its roots in a far away land, but which has made it to our shores to spread its ideology of hatred and enmity with all things American.

Before we try and make this an isolated incident, history still alive in the memories of people who lived in similarly dangerous times reminds us that we have always been a place where those who would do us harm have lived with us, eaten with us, and exchanged pleasantries until such time as the latent mindset was released and the damage to be inflicted made to happen. These perpetrators have been labeled variously over the years, the more recent being nationalist socialist, Marxist/communist, anarchist (a catch-all group, for they may take on other identities to achieve their bedlam), and now Islamic terrorist.

Now here it has been suggested by the previous writer that if American politics continues on a course with attempting to change the Middle East dynamics to arrive at some sort of contrived peace at the expense of Israel, would there be an issue of American soldiers who are practicing Jews that are called to intervene (purportedly at the behest of the United Nations, or maybe as an independent police action) to enforce some provision of international pressure to force Israel to comply with the world's request, how would they respond. Would they obey, or withdraw to preserve an allegiance to their religious convictions?

It is countered here that there is a disparate sense of ideologies, that the mindset of an American soldier of Jewish heritage that has been brought up to respect a sense of proper conduct within his religious beliefs while serving versus one that has the sensibilities of the Fort Hood assassin, the two cannot be compared any more than one can call an apple an orange. There are going to be exceptions, naturally, but even in that what may present itself is a change of colors –of allegiance if you will- to protect and defend that which is more honorable in the sight of Almighty G-d. Who would be in a position to make that sort of call? Not too many know that answer at this moment in time.

The last note in this observation is that this reader is not aware of any Jewish plot to overthrow the American way of life in the same way it has been attributed to the Muslim militant. When the time comes to determine if America will be compelled to interject itself into a contravening position regarding Israel's destiny, it is expected any such allegiances to be made are already made and that the world will have already pulled the trigger on its path to self destruction, and being American will not be any different than being called a Gentile. The Hebrew Holy Bible explains the circumstances and consequences of that better than this reader.
