May an american comment on Israel

Reader comment on item: May an American Comment on Israel?

Submitted by Martin Nelson (Kenya), Aug 9, 2008 at 03:03

Dear Daniel,

It all depends on what you mean by 'comment'

Words as you know are slippery and twist and turn . Those who use them must be very mindful of the way in which words can vary in meaning. If you use it to mean the right to critisize then I think you are ill advised .If you use it to mean a presentation of two sides , ie a critique of the situation then I think you are in order.

The Israelis are right in my opinion to say that unless you live here and feel and live the life we live then you are in no position to critisize us.
