Reader comment on item: May an American Comment on Israel?

Submitted by Graham R-B (Israel), Jul 28, 2008 at 09:47

Mr. Schweitzer in his indignation over outsiders stating their opinion regarding Israel's policies forgets that one of the many unique things about the State of Israel is the manner in which it came into existence. If the early settlers and those that followed them had adopted his attitude and refused outside aid or advice, there would be no State of Israel today . All Jews the world over might have, would be a National Anthem expressing their 'impossible dream.'

Moses gave us a good example to follow when he listened to the legal advice of his father-in-law, who was not one of the Children of Israel, regarding the division of labor and appointing judges to share in his work. Healthy criticism and good advice should be welcomed, encouraged and acted on, from wherever it comes. Homespun suicidal policies should be shunned especially when they emanate from those in high office.

I came to live in Israel and I applaud Daniel Pipes and other well wishers like him even if they choose only to have their heart living in Israel.
