Haaretz (and the like): bias and hate

Haaretz twisted language, especially on racism: slaps it on cultural divisions or on safety but not on Arab Muslim racist attacks

The "competitive" tantrum trend among hard Israeli left to utter the "racism" terminology has been for some time.

They are ever so loud on isolated cases of violent attacks against Arabs which we all condemn, of course.

Yet, they are silent on every weekly attacks by racist Arabs targeting Jewish civilians (at times travelling for miles far away from own Arab town...). Of course, it's Arab Muslim terrorism but it's also anti-Jewish ethnic racism and religious bigotry.

Yet, will term any Israeli security measure as "racist." As if it's "not" saving lives, what it is really about.

Will minimize Arab Islamic Palestinian use of its own population as human shields (at least since 1980 by Arafat), and Israeli attempts to evacuate before an anti terror operation.

Will maximize, exaggerate any claim of abuse.

Incidentally, with all the heavily funded anti-Israel groups inside Israel. Why isn't there any even as much as a 'peace' movement on the Arab Palestinian side, Hamas' Gaza or Fatah's Ramallah?

If one specific community wants to keep its unique education, they immediately cry "racism".

They are silent on every Israeli court case that favors Arab vs Jew. But ever so loud on any partial-discriminatory incident. Despite the fact, it is rather ultra-orthodox who feel most all out discriminated against, mainly prompted by anti-Religious hatred campaign by hard left like Haaretz - actually.

These supposed "peacenicks", these same hypocrites, incite against, demonize Haredi ultra Orthodox conscientious objectors who refuse to serve in IDF draft in Israeli army.

It might very well be that at the beginning of "it's racism" rant, years ago, it was less meaning it, and more intented to shock, especially Jews, more sensitive, being victims, past and present of bigotry. But it has since become a "normal" language to utter it wherever, if for only that they 'can' float it. There is zero check on it.

The decades routinely vilification of Jews isn't just mere irresponsible. It surpassed that level long ago.

Haaretz and the like, are not just biased. But hate mongers.

It's Jew-Hate, Stupid

... Haaretz, where columnist Chemi Shalev just equated what was clearly an aberration - the alleged terrible Jewish murder of a Palestinian Arab boy - to the state-organized and orchestrated 1933 Nazi Germany's Brown shirts massacring of Jews. In another current Haaretz article entitled "Two Israels: One's at war, the other's doing business as usual," the Jew-hating author breaks Israel roughly into two groups, the Peace-Haters and the Peace-Lovers. Netanyahu is a "Peace-Hater" because he hasn't created a Palestinian state that even the left-wing past Prime Ministers Olmert and Barak couldn't create. Israel's suicidal left has infinite "love" and rationalization for the Palestinian terrorists who commit gruesome war-crime atrocities against their fellow man, and cheer and dance when rockets are being fired into Israel...

The Ha'aretz newspaper, which boasts of being the "newspaper for people who think", is again raising wild incitement against the ultra-Orthodox public in Israel. In an editorial published by the newspaper over the weekend, it was claimed that the ultra-Orthodox are "parasites."

"Netanyahu hides from the public the prices of his election for a fifth term, which all Israelis will pay," Haaretz states. "Expanding ultra-Orthodox parasites, trampling on Arab society, deepening the mouths of mouths, crushing the law and justice authorities and justifying corruption as a way of life."

HA'ARETZ, THE LIE OF THE LAND by Andrea Levin - Think-Israel

Oct 8, 2007

Although Ha'aretz bills itself as "an independent newspaper with a broadly liberal outlook," many of the opinion writers and some reporters espouse views of the extreme left, and factual accuracy is often sacrificed to their political predilections. Reporter Amira Hass, for example, has just been ordered by the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court to pay $60,000 in damages to the Jewish community of Hebron for her false and incendiary report that Jewish residents there had abused the corpse of a dead Arab shot by Israeli Border police in a violent incident. The allegations were disproved by multiple televised accounts of the event.

The same reporter's stories, replete with distorted and inaccurate charges that Israel is an "apartheid" state, steals Palestinian water, callously targets Palestinians over the age of 12 with sniper-fire, and generally subjugates Arabs out of sheer viciousness, are posted on countless anti-Israel websites. The commentaries of Hass and a score of other Ha'aretz writers (Gideon Samet, Gideon Levy, Akiva Eldar, Baruch Kimmerling, Ze'ev Sternhell, Joseph Algazy, Danny Rubenstein, Moshe Reinfeld and many more) appear alongside those of Noam Chomsky, Hanan Ashrawi, Edward Said and other favorites of such websites (eg: cesr, pmwatch, globalsolidarity, liberate-palestine).

Indeed, a look at such sites and the content of the Ha'aretz articles posted suggests that Ha'aretz writers are in the vanguard of those making the Palestinian case against Israel.

[...]In your September 23 2010 interview, published in Huffington Post you made the defamatory accusation that Yitzhak Rabin"s peace agreement with Arafat was a scam (that is a swindle or fraudulent deal). Don't you see the similarity between this type of baseless accusation and the defamation of your late father?..Don't you see the similarity between the Haaretz headline "J.. are capable of acting like neo-Nazis" (Meron Rappaport Sep.16, 2007) and the allegation that your late Dad cooperated with Nazis?I refer to your November 12, 2006..

Haaretz Commentator Gideon Levy Arrested for 'Spitting' at Israeli Soldiers"

by Dave Bender

Israeli police on Monday arrested Gideon Levy, the well-known columnist for the left-wing Haaretz newspaper, for allegedly spitting at and cursing Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint near the Palestinian city of Tulkarm, Israel Radio said.

Gideon Levy, who is strongly pro-Palestinian and infamous for his scathing attacks on the IDF and the Israeli right, was attempting to enter Palestinian Authority area A, without a permit, along with photographer Alex Levac.

The two "confronted [the soldiers], causing a provocation and spitting and cursing at them," according to The Jerusalem Post. Haaretz later reported that Levy and Levac had been released following questioning.

Earlier in the day, soldiers caught a Palestinian man in an attempted stabbing attack at the checkpoint

The willingness to admit mistakes is almost a lost art in Israel's media. In most cases, Israeli opinion makers, when proven wrong, prefer to ignore the whole thing and just move on, nothing to see here, folks. One exception to the rule is Gideon Levy, Haa'retz's leading anti-Zionist columnist, who used an embarrassing error he had made in his column last week to blithely move the debate's goalposts to an entirely different part of the field, and ram a new ball through. As victories go, this one required double the lying power and did little to promote dialogue inside Israel's society. Of course, Gideon Levy to Israeli dialogue is what Sweeney Todd is to haircuts.
