Israel-then and now

I have been unable to understand the actions of the Israeli government. At one time Israel was feared and its enemies knew that there would be serious retaliation for violence.

Every time Israel has made any concession, it has been rewarded by more violence from the Palestinians urged on by others.
However, the U.S. government seems to be equally stupid and continues to talk about a "peace process.
There can only be peace when both parties want it. Why would the Palestinian Arabs want peace when they get rewarded for every violent act?

I still do not understand why those who give lip service to justice, democracy and equality support those who have none of it and oppose the only country in the region that has those values.
Do stupid actions lead to the end of a society?

But then Israel has the political problem of having a lot of people who do not perceive the danger-just as the U.S. does.
