Reader comment on item: Samir Kuntar and the Last Laugh

Submitted by Jay (United States), Jul 24, 2008 at 23:39

Dr. Pipes asks who will have the last laugh in the recent Samir Kuntar episode, Hisbullah or Israel? Setting aside the part that this is no laughing matter, it is an interesting question .If you look at the face of the Lebanese, the Palestinians, and the daily Arabic papers, probably one could conclude Hezbollah had the last laugh. But historians and their hard cover books have a longer winded look at things.

The Arafats, Kuntars, Hezbollah, Hamas leadership etc may in fact, over time, strangely, allow Israel to have the last laugh. Setting aside the part that this is no laughing matter.
