Samir Kuntar and the last laughReader comment on item: Samir Kuntar and the Last Laugh Submitted by Steve Gure (United States), Jul 21, 2008 at 10:11 Allow me to disagree with you. (1} A strong country that has lost its will and common sense to protect its own citizens is of no use to any one. (2) Your second point makes no sense at all. Israel had all this time to deal with this murderer and did nothing. Now that they have released him it is too late. My very best to you Steve Gure Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: I am dismayed about Israel's loss of will and common sense, as should be evident from my article. The point about Israel no longer being responsible for Kuntar makes sense; as a country of laws, it had to treat a prisoner according to those laws. Kuntar now being free in Lebanon, those laws no longer apply, especially as he has vowed to kill more Israelis. Comment on this item
