Another Israeli failure

The past several Israeli governments have made so many bad or stupid or even lethal political and security decisions that it is hard to compare this one as being either worse or better than all the rest.

However, on it's own the Israeli decision to release live terrorists in exchange for dead Israelis simply tells the terrorists that Israel will pay the same price for live as well as dead Israelis. This means that the next time an Israeli is kidnapped or captured, his kidnappers or captors need not either insure his health or safety. Indeed, the terrorists are better of just killing him so as to make any Israeli rescue attempt unnecessary, and then to make wild and crazy demands in the knowledge that the Israelis will probably deliver.
