I'm puzzled as well about Daniel Pipes describing the 2006 war as a loss for Israel.

Count me as absolutely proud of Israel's display of military might. I always am irritated when the event is described as the "invasion of Lebanon by Israel" - it was not an invasion. Three Israeli soldiers were wounded; two were killed; and two were kidnapped. Israel's towns were bombed.

So, Israel RESPONDED with overwhelming military force - which is how wars are WON.
