Possible answer to why we let the Islamists drop the lawsuit

If the defendants had counter-sued, then they would be able to keep the lawsuit going just by not dropping their counter charges. Either they didn't counter sue in this case, or maybe they were just worn out.

When there is an adequate defense fund available, the best course would probably be to always counter sue so that the Islamic orgs couldn't back out when it got uncomfortable. Taking this action consistantly would probably go a long way to discourage such suits.
