Reader comment on item: Trump: You Should Ban Islamists, Not Muslims

Submitted by Gloria Stewart (United States), Dec 20, 2015 at 18:20

Daniel Pipes is mistaken in his criticism of Mr. Trump's plan to ban Muslims. Whether it is constitutional or not, Mr. Trump claims that he has consulted constitutional scholars who claim it is. Islam is not a religion. It is a faith based political system that idealizes and strives for a theocracy. It is not necessary to get involved in a semantic discussion. To put it simply, can Dr. Pipes assure us that none of his so called moderate Muslims, when they enter the United States, will be one sermon away from being radicalized?

Daniel Pipes replies:

No more than you can assure me that the newly-minted converts to Christianity will be one sermon away from being radicalized.
