More than 10 - 15 % of Muslims must be Islamist (Or why am I wrong to think this?)

Reader comment on item: Trump: You Should Ban Islamists, Not Muslims

Submitted by Lyle Smith (United States), Dec 14, 2015 at 09:50

I am not in a position to challenge your expert opinion on the number of Islamists in the world. I am inclined to accept your assertion. That said, the three most important countries in the Middle East are governed by Islamists (KSA, IRN, and TUR). And Egypt would be governed by Islamists if Egypt military would acquiesce to it.

How can there be so few Islamist Muslims, if so many predominantly Muslim countries are governed, happily in some cases, by Islamists?
