Unacceptable

Reader comment on item: Why the Japanese Internment Still Matters

Submitted by Philip Schlesinger (United States), Dec 28, 2004 at 17:41

Dear Mr. Pipes,

It is unacceptable to support internment and racial profiling. We can win this war without taking those steps. Keep in mind this is EXACTLY what the Islamists want us to do - they want us to destroy our own society from within. Let us not forget some of the key words of the greatest American political minds:

"Those who would trade safety for freedom deserve neither."
Thomas Jefferson

"Those that would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither liberty nor security."
Ben Franklin

"Those who are ready to sacrifice freedom for security ultimately will lose both"
Abraham Lincoln
