I salute Captain James M. Olsen

Reader comment on item: Why the Japanese Internment Still Matters
in response to reader comment: We can't take much more of this, CAPTAIN!

Brendan O'Leary has made up his own facts about the Captain as many of the writers made up their own facts about the Relocation.I know Olsen, retired from the US Coast Guard with a third of a century active service. The Coast Guard as it's name suggests,is focused on security.

Olsen is an expert in the field. He knows that falsifying the the reasons for the Relocation, that is racial motivation, etc., has a restricting effect on dealing with our enemies within. Most Japanese Americans were known to be loyal as are most American Muslims. There were traitors and spies in the JA community as there are in the Muslim community today.

Hampering the FBI in intercept operations ,as the Democrats in Congress are doing today, amounts to aiding and abetting the enemy. So are the politically correct,anti-American,feeling guilty because I'm white, feeling oppressed because I'm brown, or too brain washed to see the facts:pick your category .

Go to your library in the 940.5472 shelf and check out some books written by survivors of the Japanese POW camps. Compare the Americans in Japanese imprisonment to those in German hands.37% death rate in Japanese camps, less than 2% in German camps. Here, too, you will find the books written by JA's in Relocation camps in the US.

Relocated JA's had the highest birth rate and lowest death rate of any segment in America. I have talked with people who are committed to the racist, bigot, fear stricken view of the reasons for the Relocation. They refuse to read books or look at films that deal with the facts. I sent "Intelligence,Internment & Relocation",Roosevelt's Executive Order9066: How Top Secret"MAGIC" Intelligence Led TO Evacuation, by Seattle author Keith Robar, to a "historian"who had written a book about her uncle. He was a soldier in the 31st Infantry Regiment in the Philippine. He survived the Bataan Death March.Beaten and strarved,he died in the Cabataun Prison Camp in July 1942.

Yet ,this person was so brainwashed she refused to read the book. People who refuse to view the documents in the books about MAGIC still have no reluctance at all to express opinions about the shame of the America that went crazy in 1942.The more ignorant or brainwashed they are the more certitude and harshly their expressions of contempt for Citizens who only want the facts known.
