better demonstrate morality by victory

Reader comment on item: My Peace Plan: An Israeli Victory
in response to reader comment: Moral Dimension

I heard a lot of comments from the generation of my grandfathers why victory was complete as you put it. Morality is not in the argumentation. They understood that the defeat by the western allies was the only way to stop the soviets from taking revenge for which they knew there was a moral basis. It was not out of compassion for millions of victims but out of fear they welcomed defeat as the end of the war. The western allies' victory was their rescue. The soviet union had millions of prisoners of war from the Wehrmacht, the last of which returned to Germany no earlier than 1955. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heimkehr_der_Zehntausend#Die_.E2.80.9EHeimkehr_der_Zehntausend.E2.80.9C

Those prisoners kept defeat in the memory of families all over the country every day. Only then they understood that the Nazi government deliberately brought destruction to their country and that it had been a criminal government all along. Translating this back to the Arab-Israeli war I conclude that defeating the Palestinians would demonstrate the moral cause of Israel to the Arabs. It is this way, not the other way around. I strongly support Dr Pipes' peace-plan. Victory is the strongest argument Israel can come up with. Maybe comparable to sports. First you win the game and then you have a strong point that your way of playing is the right one.
