Israel's Victory in 1967

Reader comment on item: My Peace Plan: An Israeli Victory

Submitted by Mike Ramirez (United States), Apr 29, 2010 at 15:12

Israel's victory in 1967 was basically declared "unfair" by the Arab nations that joined together in trying to defeat and overrun the Israelis. I believe another military victory by Israel would be declared "unfair" by the United Nations and by other "influential" governments who continually seek to have Israelis withdraw to pre-1967 borders.

Had the Arabs not tried to attack Israel in 1967, they would not have lost the land they did which really constituted a legitimate military victory for Israel with the right to all land seized.

Conclusion: Any new victory by Israel would still be criticized by world opinion as unfair and the Israelis would be pressured into giving back any land won in battle.
