deep motivation?

Reader comment on item: Swiss Minarets and European Islam
in response to reader comment: go for it

Havas, realising the deep cultural and religious divisions that Turkey has with European countries - while it seeks entry into the EU for the financial benefits that move would bring, writes:

"ı believe in two things.you will either accept multicultural life. that means accepting muslims the way they are,"
The West IS multicultural - it's Muslim countries who have the problem accepting other cultures/religions in their midst.

"......if we are rejected, we want and will create a new democratic muslim world."

But here you are talking about Turkey's inclusion in the EU. So you are saying now that if it fails - Turkey will create a new democratic muslim world (hopefully meaning - you will bring democracy to muslim lands.)

So why haven't you (Turkey) taken the lead and done that before? Why wait for the European decision in order to make your own? And if you had got into the EU - what then about helping the muslim world get democracy? Would you let that dream go? Then how sincere is the intention?
