freedom?

Mr Havas,

We didn't have to wait very long before you start throwing around invectives did we, accusing the West of being the reason for all the problems in the world. Just last week you were saying how you'd like to see visa free borders for every country - so that you (and other Islamics) could go wherever you wished. But scratch the surface - and just underneath we find a true bigot.

You mistake the common dislike of Islam and what it stands for by people of all races - from the USA, the UK, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada, any of the EU countries, Australia, South America - and I'm sure I could include Russia - as being hatred. It's not. We seek to take action to become free of a problem that we do not have to accept in our own countries. It doesn't matter what a problem is in life - the best way to deal with it is coolly and dispassionately. Have your Islam in your own countries - but don't be so foolish as to expect the West to give you carte blanche to carry out affecting our countries with this contagion.

well you had better get a move on. You're not showing a great deal of cohesion and unity so far. In fact over the last 10 years the old Shia/Sunni hatreds have become even stronger - or shall we say, expressed more effectively.

Stick to Islamic culture and seek to rule the world? You're a funny guy.

Having lots of Islamic websites increases your perception that Islam is on the rise. It is not. You feel safer in numbers - it gives you hope but you're just deluding yourself.

Freedom and the perception of freedom are pretty much one and the same. i..e Freedom is an internal state of mind - though it's also reflected in the social and political milieu of your society. Am I (and most westerners) free to do and say pretty much whatever they want? Yes, of course. Am I free to think and be as internally free as I possibly can be? Yes, of course. Am I free to choose whatever philosophy or religion or take up whatever spiritual practice I wish - or to have none at all? Yes - of course. Am I free then to completely change my religion or outlook subsequently? Am I free to actively resist the intrusion of and expose the real nature and the effects of a barbaric and anachronistic poor excuse for a 'religion' into my culture ? Yes, of course. Are the technological solutions around me improving all the time and rapidly ? Yes , of course.

So, I and most other Western people are not losing their freedoms. Do you have that many to lose?
