signal only to the swiss, islam vs mcdonalds

Reader comment on item: Swiss Minarets and European Islam
in response to reader comment: to be honest

Havas, trust me when I say this signal is to the swiss and people living in Switzerland only. The swiss have no intention either to join even the EU or communicate any messages. I understand when you complain about "equal rights". Personally I support the idea that the majority culture by means of democracy imposes matters of public life on minorities. That is not limited to religious matters. For example you can be pretty sure that say the city administration in Zurich does put limits on corporations like McDonals to set up large and high "M" logos in the historical city center. Please imagine that if McDonalds were to use Switzerland as an advertising ground and place "M" on the high montains, the swiss would surely ban this. And the same as with the mosques, they ban the minaret not the religion, they would ban the logo, not the food.
