Reader comment on item: Swiss Minarets and European Islam

Submitted by Lazman (United States), Dec 14, 2009 at 12:38

I believe the Swiss could have handled this better and in the "land of timekeepers" they could have distributed sophisticated watches to their Muslim folks with a special "call to prayer" alarm. Or the local Imams in Switzerland could show that they are the religion of new age and "twitter" their local followers to prayer. But I guess we are still waiting after 14 centuries for Islam to go thru reformation!

Back to the serious problem of Islamist hypocrisy. Since Islamists attempt to justifying their lifestyle of multiple and young (!?) wives by claiming to emulate Muhammad's life, then they should know that Muhammad prayed in a simple manner by creating his personal "small mosque" of palm leaves and sand. He did not need blaring, 140 decibel calls to prayer from a minaret to attend to his "personal" and "individual" religious duty and fulfillment. Minarets did not exist until much later.

Also, for those who compare this issue with Church towers and bells: unless you lived in a neighborhood with three mosques and at another time in your life lived next to a church, you do not know what you are talking about. It is immensely different.

Finally, get over it! The Swiss have voted!
