Joshua...you asked for "someone please lovingly and graciously explain...Why do some of you not spell out the word "God" but spell it G*d?"

Your edginess in your message will not stop me from being Loving :)

Believers will respect G-d's name when it is written or spoken. The word is spoken with meaning...and when written, it should not be tossed or deleted, but written permanently. If the word is written in a fleeting or temporary way, G-d's name will be spelled incomplete.

... for your interest, worn-out holy books are properly buried.
