Mr. Shoebat is a good example

Reader comment on item: Walid Shoebat: "Palestinian turns from radical Muslim to true Zionist"
in response to reader comment: Shoebat's response to Moshe Katz

I have read with great interest the many letters regarding the statements made by Moshe Katz against Walid Shoebat. Many have eloquently responded to Moshe's letter. I would like to add to the equation by saying that anyone can profess to be a Christian, but one of the signs of a TRUE Christian is the desire of the person to sincerely love others. The Bible tells us the following:

Matt. 22:37-40, "And He (Jesus) said to him, "‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 "This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 "The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

Now, who is my neighbor? The answer is: anyone and everyone. As difficult as it sounds, I am to love and pray even for those who hate me! It doesn't matter if the other person is a Muslim, fellow "Christian" or a Jew. In Matthew 5: 43-48 Jesus further instructs:

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans do the same?

47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye do more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

But how can this be? How can we be free of sin and become enabled to love people who hate us and thus be "perfect" in G*d's sight? The answer is found in John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I believe Walid Shoebat is making every effort to apply the principles of love. I would welcome those who struggle with this concept and who also want to have a better understanding of people who claim and accept Jesus Christ as their savior to read the free online books offered at:

May G*d bless all who desire to seek him in spirit and in truth.

Allow me to reiterate; one of the signs of a TRUE Christian is the desire of the person to sincerely love others... even enemies!
