...Why do some of you not spell out the word "God" but spell it G*d?

does this have something to do with the tetragrammaton? (YHWH)

Will God hold me accountable for not spelling his name with an asterix?

Is this like saying "Darn-it" instead of "Damn-it"?

OK, OK, I apologize for getting a bit edgy on this one, but a lot of people do it, I'm not included, but I also noticed that Walid does it.

Does Daniel Pipes do it? I'm truly perplexed, and with all due respect, someone please lovingly and graciously explain this to me, I am ignorant.
