Shoebat a fake

Reader comment on item: Walid Shoebat: "Palestinian turns from radical Muslim to true Zionist"
in response to reader comment: Shoebat is a Hero.

Personally I think that Walid Shoebat is an opportunist and a fake. His story just does not ring true. He claims that he was a "militant Moslem" who, for some strange reason, married a devout Christian woman. Does that make ANY sense? Interfaith marriages are rare in the Middle East and I certainly can't imagine someone who was a militant Moslem marrying a Christian. He then said he started to read the Bible to prove to his wife that Christianity is wrong and ended up being converted. People who are fanatics are not really open-minded enough to do a complete 180 in their beliefs.

Of course now that Shoebat is a Christian he is convinced that ALL the old land of Israel--i.e. the West Bank and Gaza-- belong to the Israeli's. Well I am a Christian and I think that is nonsense. I am also deeply concerned with his obvious hatred for the Palestinian people. He acts as if they are all demon-inspired spawns of Satan. Someone who is truly Christian would want to work for peace and reconcilliation between the Jews and Palestinians. He does not. He wants the Palestinians out--period. How someone who is supposedly a Palestinian can have such contempt for his own people proves to me that he is not who he says he is.

Doesn't it seem odd to any of you that he tells Zionist Jews and Christians EXACTLY what they want to hear? He's not brave! He's a demagogue and a charlatan! There are only two solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. One is for a Palestinian state to be established on the West Bank and Gaza or--two--that there be a one state solution where everyone--Jew and Moslem--is treated equally and fairly. Of course the latter would mean the end of the Zionist dream and that is ok with me. Why should a nation be founded for one religious group? This is the 21st century. Can't we just see each other as human beings instead of Christian, Jew, Hindu, etc? Well that is my 2 cents worth.
