Future Involvement in War in IraqReader comment on item: Pipes calls war a success Submitted by William J. Sturm (United States), Apr 2, 2006 at 10:03 I like the thought that our military forces should remain out in remote areas and only be used as presented early in the article. My suggestion goes further. We leave behind a number of small command and control units scattered out of Iraq to prosecute the war. We are still at war as long as the war continues and we are fighting it. I would withdraw all the main fighting forces to Aircraft Carriers in International Waters and or soil that is not Arab soil. These rapid response forces would be 'called in and used' as necessary to prosecute the war. This would get the vast majority of American Soldiers out of harms way and give the folks there an opportunity to run their own country with a minimum of outside influence. The fact that American and other foreign boots would no longer be on the sacred ground would ease tensions. Also, I would suggest we adopt a policy of using battlefield nuclear weapons on a limited basis. Let's scare the hell out of these people and when we hit we hit with the intent to inflict maximum damage and psychological affect! Anyone else interested in uprising and atrocities? Oh yes, let Iran and N. Korea and anyone else in the world make all the nuclear weapons they wish! The more the merrier. But, in the same breath they are responsible for maintaining the security of those WMDs or else the intentional or accidental use of even one will ensure their hunk of the universe if obliterated from the face of the globe.
