The House, the Burglar, and the RescuerReader comment on item: Pipes calls war a success Submitted by John R. (United States), Apr 9, 2006 at 08:09 <<<<Yes, we are dictators there. >>>>>.the US. the US controls the government the elections and the military right now. How is that not a type of dictatorship? >>>>>>> With what goes on there, yes it is a dictatorship. <<<<< Yes that is our purpose. >>>.So why should the Iraqis be greatful>>..... They should be grateful because Sadaam is gone and it is on it's way to becoming a democracy when our forces will have accomplished what they want to accomplish and leave. >>>>>>>As far as they are concerned they were invaded, bombed, a war was started in their front yard, thousands are dying in the crossfire and all so that they can vote an unknown number of times for a governmnet that the US has built anyway.>>>>>>>> We have removed Sadaam Hussein, we and many parts of the world are happy about that. He was a threat to the security and lives of not only unfortunate Iraqis but of the world. But the gratitude comes greatly outside of Iraq. When you said why the Iraqis should be grateful, well, we in the US are grateful, so we think the Iraqis should be as grateful as well. Not only that but we think the Iraqis should even be more grateful than us. Nevetheless, the Iraqis even by a little should be grateful, but not as grateful as we, the US population. Why? We got rid of Sadaam Hussein and his oppressive regime. >>>>>I don't care what your political leanings are….if this happened to you would YOU be greatful? >>>>> OK, let me imagine. In my house. There comes a burglar, he holds us hostage, threatenes us, basically run the house for us and appoints himself ruler. Someone outside notices what whas happening so they invaded the house and freed the people there from the burglar. The people are the Iraqis, Saddam is the burglar, and the US is the rescuer. Should the Iraqis be grateful? Yeah!!! Yes, if my analogy makes sense. John R. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
