Saddam certainly was a reliable buffer in the Middle East. I felt the same way as you in the beginning of the conflict. However, the US Government's inability over a prolonged period of time to produce a solution in occupied Iraq, has had a ripple effect across the world. With that said, how will the global economy benefit in the long term? It looks unlikely favorable for many countries. It will be an interesting future for all of us living in western societies in the forthcoming decade.
