draw up some agreed borders

I don't understand why the USA is still so afraid of drawing up borders like the Brits did all over the world for the 1st part of last century.

the Kurdish area should be ceded to Turkey with guarantees of safety for the population + they can allow Kurds in Turkey to go to this new region if they wish to. The area will still be taxed & protected by Turkey against foreign incursions.

the Shiite south should belong to Iran since it owes it's loyalty to the Shiite belief system.

the center area becomes an independent Sunni state - minimized for it's arrogance and impotence in allowing it's peoples basic human rights & freedoms - courtesy of the Baathists

the western desert goes to Syria with sovereign guarantees.

this would be a good solution.

When the Brits drew up new countries in Africa etc the people accepted their decisions and didn't question anything. Even their new King of Iraq idea was allowed - and of course we wouldn't do that.
