Mr. Pipes responses to this interview are insightful and accurate. His comment that we can "help the Muslim world move beyond this war through educational programs and other means" and that "fundamentally, we're at war with a substantial minority of the Muslim world" seems too optimistic.

Though only a minority of the Muslim world raises arms against us, I suspect the overwhelming majority does not wish us (the West) well. Sadly, when one looks to the Koran, the militants are probably closer to "the book" than the moderates, since non-believers are to be either converted or subjugated to the house of Islam at least in some capacity. To my knowledge, the Koran reflects the word of God and is therefore immutable. One needs to look no further than the recent Afghan who converted to Christianity and nearly lost his life to see the extreme optimism in Pipe's comments. I only pray he knows something I don't.
