Reader comment on item: Ankara at War

Dr. Pipes, you've done it again. Now, the question before the house is, will anyone in America's political elite listen to you? I really worry that Recep Erdogan will use this as a way of suckering in the rest of NATO into a conflict in which the West really doesn't have a stake. What is better? An old Cold War proxy of the Evil Empire, and now ally of Iran, or the Muslim Brotherhood in the saddle?

Recep Erdogan seems to follow the footsteps of Necmettin Erbakan, who thought Turkey should give up its Westernizing ways and go back to being a leader of the Islamic and Central Asian East. I wonder if people like Recep Erdogan wouldn't like to play the pan-Islamist card to rebuild the vanished Ottoman Empire--Turkey as hegemon of the Middle East. Just speculating...

Frankly, it's best that the proteges of the mad mullahs of Iran and the MB are trying to kill each other off. They're both angry, destructive parties with nothing good at all to offer the world.
