In defense of CAIR

Reader comment on item: CAIR: 'Moderate' friends of terror

Submitted by Lila (United States), May 21, 2010 at 15:50

I am very confused when I read anyone try and label CAIR (Council on Islamic American Relations) as a supporter of terrorism or terrorists or as an organization involved with those who commit murderous crimes in the name of 'Islam'. CAIR, like the majority of American Muslims, condemns and repudiates all acts of terrorism, whether it be orchestrated by Muslims or non-muslims. As an American convert to Islam, I consider myself to be a member of a peaceful and beautiful religion which has been defaced by groups with their own political agendas who bear 'muslim' names and by people in the west who are intent on destroying it. CAIR supports advocacy between Muslim Americans and their American brothers and sisters and has, since its inception, existed to educate Americans about Islam and to defend American Muslims' rights in a society where those rights are being marginalized every day.

If one wants to learn about CAIR, please visit their website http://www.cair.com, to specifically see their answers to the accusations currently being made against them, see http://www.cair.com/Portals/0/pdf/Dispelling_Rumors_about_CAIR.pdf.
