Rep.Cynthia McKinney's relationship to CAIR

Reader comment on item: CAIR: 'Moderate' friends of terror

Submitted by Dush Ramachandran (Switzerland), May 13, 2002 at 13:48

I am outraged and perplexed that Cynthia McKinney-D, Congress woman from the 4th district in Georgia; distinguished Ranking Member of the International Operations and Human Rights Subcommittee of the House International Relations Committee, and member of the House Armed Services Committee will be the keynote speaker for the CAIR annual fundraising dinner on October 7, 2002 in Tyson Corners, VA (Sheraton Premiere) sponsored and benefiting the Counsel for American Islamic Relations (CAIR).
When one reviews the material available, it becomes abundantly clear that CAIR’s ultimate (not so hidden) agenda is to continue its work as accomplice to terror organizations here in the US and abroad.

Now is the time to stop allowing these operatives to cloak their mission under the veils of protecting our civil liberties and protecting citizens from discrimination. Public scrutiny and government examination of this non-profit organization’s lesser known public statements and policies should be sufficient for the average citizen to be suspicious. It is every American’s responsibility to take a closer look and not rush to judgement, but to review the record and demand oversight. Our most precious American freedoms and liberties are at stake when elected US policy makers unwittingly LEGITIMIZE militant groups or their lobbyists, fundraisers, and supporters.

It is impossible for me as an American citizen, to understand the motives of Rep. Cynthia McKinney-D, an elected official known for her adamant support of human rights, civil liberties and sensitivity to troubled peoples in her own district and worldwide. To ignore, the record of CAIR in America’s time of pain and anguish, and to not be aware of these troubling reports, statements under oath in front of the US Senate, statements from FBI Counter Terrorism experts and other creditable sources and to raise money as their keynote speaker is inexcusable.

Representative McKinney and others within our government must decline association with CAIR until the US Attorney General can investigate the statements and actions of this organization and its cousin the American Muslims for Jerusalem (AMJ) in light of the documentation below and elsewhere.
