You're choosing the wrong fight

I haven't taken the trouble to read all this but I'll make this point anyway. In Ontario, Canada, no one is allowed to have open bottles of alcoholic beverages in the car even in the trunk. This is to discourage drinking in the car even by passengers. Drunk passengers can lead to disruption of the driver's concentration. Therefore, in some cases you may have chosen the wrong issue to fight about.

The alcohol that people wish to carry can be hidden from the drivers and from temptation, thus making everyone safer and avoiding controversy.
