Reader comment on item: More on Those Alcohol-shy Taxi Drivers

I am amazed at the actions of these taxi drivers. All over the Middle East one is served alcohol in hotels and in many muslim countries it can be purchased from designated shops under licence. Hotels serve alcohol and where it is not allowed in countries such as Saudi Arabia, it is well known that the hirearchy bring in alcohol for their own consumption and sell it to the underground western expatriate market. Thirty years ago I lived in Bahrain and our local Bahraini policeman was never without his CRATE of JW Black label, and we often enjoyed a drink together. Muslims in London and all the big cities of the world both drink alcohol and gamble, both activities supposedly unislamic. The whole thing is a big lie put about by the holy joes.
