Too OptimisticReader comment on item: American Intifada Submitted by Edward Halper (United States), Jun 20, 2007 at 11:00 The end strikes me as too optimistic. I doubt these folks would stop so soon, and I fear that the American people would fold under a real terrorist threat. We have become too reliant on high tech weaponry. And there is a general reluctance to carry out the actions that we would need to rid ourselves of real threats. Much of the people's opposition to our war on terror is predicated on the assumption that terrorists do not pose an existential threat or even serious threat to us. Ditto with opposition to Israeli security measures. I think this is wrong. We are far more vulnerable than we imagine.
