U.S. Islamists may be that stupid, but I think not

The great mass of We, the People didn't blame American Muslims for the 9/11 attacks because they were clearly carried out by foreign intruders, and we shrugged off the DC snipers and the few other terrorist acts by homegrown Mohammedans as anomalies with relatively low body counts. Reaction went no further than to cause most Americans to look at Mosques with at least some level of suspicion.

But we will not shrug off a full blown intifida here in the U.S. In the aftermath of a succession of mass casualty events such as those described by Dr. Pipes we will demand aggressive action by the government and at least some of us will take action to let U.S. resident Muslims know that the bat can swing both ways.

If the attackers are recent arrivals from overseas we will demand both retribution overseas and a cessation of travel by Muslims to the U.S. If any significant number of the attackers are home grown I suspect some sort of mass round-up of Muslims by Federal authorities will be necessary for their own protection.

Civilization is a thin veneer even in the seemingly decadent West.
