Wake up call for naysayers

The naysayers continue with the line that confronting evil dictatorships will increase the risk of terrorism.

Yet, as Dr Pipes so rightly points out, the exact opposite is true. Despotic regimes such as those in Saddam's Iraq, in Syria, Iran and Saudi Arabia provide the sustenance for Islamic terrorism.

In the final analysis, despots and their terrorist cronies are just global bullies. Like all bullies, they are cowards. If you try to appease them, they feed off your fear and become emboldened to do ever greater mischief. If you face up to them and teach them a lesson, however, they slink away and go back to the hole they crawled out of.

Pacifists and appeasers should go back to school and read their European history books.
